This session explores essential strategies and techniques required to powerfully evolve from manager into leader. Being a manager is one of the most arduous and yet most valuable roles in any organization. The challenge lies in dealing with the expectations of those above and below you while also influencing the success of the people around you. When you master managing while leading, you will discover how to impact any organization from the middle. You will leave this class with the skills needed to powerfully evolve into a Manager who Lead.
People don’t hate their bosses. They just don’t trust them. When every interaction we have with our people contributes to or contaminates that trust, we must work to build it. And only with trust can we powerfully communicate, offer feedback, and delegate to empower and develop. As the boss, we create this environment every day; and as Managers who Lead, we do it intentionally.
Session Includes: Seminar, Breakfast, Lunch, Parking, and Supplementary learning resources.
Instructor: Ann Tardy, JD, CSP
As a former Silicon Valley corporate attorney and a current entrepreneur, CEO, and manager, Ann knows people from many dynamics. Working alongside some of the best and brightest lawyers, entrepreneurs, VCs, and business owners, Ann incorporated companies, negotiated mergers, managed venture-backed financings, and held the hands of many anxious CEOs… and loved it. She then started her own law firm representing over 75 entrepreneurs, grew it until her CEOs became friends, and then sold her firm to a larger firm that continues to represent entrepreneurs and start-ups nationwide
In 2003 Ann launched LifeMoxie Mentoring to radically increase people’s job-love by improving their ability to manage, lead, and mentor. As the Chief People Officer, Ann Tardy creates collaborative communities and better bosses for stronger organizations. She founded The Mentoring Leaders Circle, developed MentorLead, a cloud-based mentoring platform. Her programs are loved by Kaiser Permanente, Stanford, Duke Energy, and Macy’s.
As a speaker and author, Ann prepares people to execute powerfully in ever-changing environments. From the stage and from her keyboard, Ann turns the kaleidoscope to help audiences see the potential and the power of their role. She is the author of three books: Ambition on a Mission, Moxie for Managers, and Why Mentoring Matters.
When not on a stage or transforming corporate America, you can find Ann on her bicycle. In 2011 she cycled from San Francisco to New Jersey and produced the documentary Work Matters based on her interviews from her bicycle.
